Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas!

This is my most favorite time of the year, and I want to wish each of you a blessed holiday season, and....
WELCOME TO THE TDIPT OPEN HOUSE!

My first offering this month is this OoAK Santa, made from my own design and new for 2009.
He measures right at 17" and stands alone.
His base is made from muslin. I have weighted it with a mixture of clean saw dust and plastic pellets. The remainder of his body is firmly filled with premium poly filling.

He wears:
*Shirt of white burlap*

*Britches of red/white ticking with a stained Warm & Natural batting trim along the bottom*

*Wool coat made from a recycled Vintage blanket, which is trimmed with stained Warm & Natural batting on the sleeves and hemline; stained muslin lapel, with 4 Vintage buttons sewn into place; Vintage style tarnished silver tinsel sewn along the sleeves and lapel; Vintage ivory upholstery trim sewn along bottom edge of coat*

*Hood made from same Vintage wool and trimmed with stained Warm & Natural batting and a small rusty bell sewn onto the tip. His hood is sewn to his coat.*

*Vintage tan faux suede belt with a Vintage ivory plastic belt buckle*

His head is made from stained and aged muslin. He has a needle stitched nose, and I've used a combination of artist's pencils, acrylic, and oil pastels to detail his facial features.
A scrap of the Vintage red wool is sewn into place for his mouth, and a soft white faux fur is sewn into place for his hair, beard and mustache.

His arms are sewn to his body, enabling him to hold in place, a painted muslin evergreen, which I also sprinkled with German glass glitter, a star shaped tin ornie in his right hand, and pinned to his left sleeve is a stained hang tag reading, "Merry Christmas" on one side, or you could turn it around, where it reads, "Believe".

This doll is not intended to be a toy, but a cherished collectible for your home.
He would look wonderful on a mantle, as a centerpiece, or mixed in with your other Prim Christmas decor.

He is One of A Kind, and will come to you from my SMOKE FREE HOME, signed and dated by me.
Please be sure to watch the slide show at the end, to see additional photos.

Santa Bear

The two things I love not only to make the most, but to decorate my own home with at Christmas time, are bears and Santa. This little guy is the best of both!
I guess it brings back fond childhood memories of the magic and joy of Christmas morning.

This 17" fully jointed bear is made from a vintage Army blanket in the traditional style of bears from the early 1900's, which had humped backs, enlongated snouts, paws and feet.
His ears and paw pads are made from recycled tan linen upholstery fabric.
I have used hardboard disk and cotter pins in his construction.

His eyes are two black beads, sunken into his head, and black cotton floss was used to stitch his nose and mouth.

Along his tummy, I've used black cotton floss to blanket stitch around stained Warm & Natural batting, pinning on 3 small rusty jingle bells in the center.

His cap is also made from recycled vintage red table linens, edged with stained Warm & Natural batting, and is sewn into place. A jingle bell with gold glitter has been sewn onto the tip.

I've made him his own Christmas stocking from another piece of the vintage red table linen and stained Warm & Natural batting.
Vintage style tarnished silver tinsel is sewn around the perimeter, with 3 small rusty jingle bells sewn onto that.
I've filled it with a mixture of Christmas greenery, berries and 3 candy canes made from stained chenille stems.

He is not intended to be a toy, but a cherished collectible for your Christmas decor.
He comes to you from my SMOKE FREE HOME, and will have a hang tag dated and signed by me.

PRICE: $65 + $7.50 USPS Priority Shipping within the lower 48 states.

Make Do Santa in Green

My last offering for our Open House is this traditional Belsnickle Father Christmas, dressed in a suit made from a vintage Army blanket.
He stands 15" and has a wooden candlestick base. He is made from aged muslin.

I have used Warm & Natural batting to trim the hem, sleeves, neckline and lapel of his coat, as well as the edge of his hood.
Three large brown vintage wooden buttons are sewn onto the front of his lapel, and two white vintage shell buttons were used to attach his arms.
He wears a tag reading "Noel", attached with a rusty safety pin, and holds a simple grapevine wreath in the crook of his left arm, which has been sewn into place.

His facial features are done with a combination of artist's pencils, acrylic, and oil pastels. I love how his green suit brings out the green sparkle in his eyes.
He has a needle stitched nose and a red wool mouth.
Soft faux fur is sewn into place for his hair, beard and mustache.

He would make a great addition to your Santa or Christmas collectibles, and can be handed down for generations to come.

He comes to you from my SMOKE FREE HOME, signed and dated by me.
